![]() Mary Taylor dressed in traditional Ugandan clothing presenting the new backpacks to our kids. As the school year starts, we have a lot to be grateful for. For our health and friendship as we start a new term full of challenges and new learning. We also just want to say a big thank you to Mary Taylor for her generous donation to our kids with backpacks and other gear to kick start the school year. We are sure these will really be treasured. We know that "back to school" time is big in our country and kids of all ages are excited to go back with their new books and new gear but how often do our kids get to enjoy that? Now they too can be proud going back to school - not only have they done well to pass and achieve getting to the next grade, but they can be proud of their new gear, wearing their new backpacks, as they walk back through those school gates for the first time in 2013. Of course we know it isn't the clothes or the new gear that counts in the end, but this gift is more than that. It is a gift to say to these kids that they are worth it and they are special. And that is important. ![]() Girls playing with their new basket ball. We have another thank you to make, especially on behalf of our fantastic soccer coach Lameck. For some time he has been aware of the state of our soccer gear but we had not found sponsors that could support the team. However, the Leland Comets, through Mary Taylor (her local school), have donated new balls and even frisbees to be used by our kids. How awesome is that!? We know they will get such great use out of them, and Lameck is so happy. However, when you have to play every game on a bare rocky "field" as our kids do, your sports gear can quickly wear out. If anyone is keen to donate sports gear/balls/or money to our Suncity Soccer team, or to the Kids First group to use, we really want to hear from you! Our final exciting news, as a follow up on something that was written in the 2012 annual report, is that Joshua is now the proud owner of a brand new laptop! Now we can't wait to get more photos and more frequent updates on our kids and we know it will make life a lot easier for our brother Joshua. Thanks everyone, and remember - if you want to contribute in any way, please just get in contact. We have our details in the contact menu, and we are on facebook. God bless.

![]() It's a great feeling being at the beginning of a year, seeing the days, weeks and months unfolding in front of you with all the dreams and possibilities of what can be done and achieved in that time. Here at Kids First we hope that this year will be full of adventure and excitement as we seek to grow and reach out to so many more. One of the most exciting things happening at present is a visit from Mary Taylor in the US. She has come to spend time with our kids and their families, to meet with them, join in activities and hopefully continue her support long after her trip is over. The above photo is Mary with some of our kids on an art day organised by our friend Andrew (Andrew, hope you don't mind me poaching your photo, and Mary hope you don't mind being a part of our blog!!) It's so exciting to have people come and visit our kids. It gives us a boost - knowing others out there are interested in us, and not only that, but are willing to put their money where their mouth is (so to speak) and actually get out there and join with us in supporting our kids. We're sure that is reciprocal as being amongst a bunch of such enthusiastic smily and playful kids is truly amazing! But more than all that, it is a huge blessing to the kids involved, for whom life is a struggle, and the fact that someone they don't know will come from a country far away with a willing heart and loving spirit shows them that they are worth it - worth attention, worth effort, worth love. We know our kids at home with us are worth all that and more - how about showing our Kids First kids some of that love too! We now have another kiddie added to our sponsorship this year (that's 3 new kids already!). Let's make it even more! God bless Photo Credit - check out Ludigo's facebook page So, Joshua has exceeded his usual brilliance recently and has written his first annual report on Kids First in Uganda. I have copied and pasted it into here so I hope it will turn out ok. It sums up everything pretty well I think. The other exciting news is that we are looking to add 2 new kids to the school sponsorship this year! There could be more if any of you would like to sponsor one of our precious kids - just get in touch with us on here or facebook - easy! Kids First Child Sponsorship Annual Report 2012 |
