![]() Meet Linda. Lind is our newest sponsored child. She is Billington's little sister (you may remember the video on Billington here) Linda and Billington's mum was abandoned by her partner when he realised she was being unfaithful. Actually she was prostituting herself out for 1000 Ugandan Shillings per man (less than $1). She was also an alcoholic, and possibly on drugs. As this wasn't a safe place for kids, Billington's sponsor paid extra to put Billington into boarding school (boarding schools can take kids during holidays here, if required). As awesome as this was for Billington, this left Linda without her big bro to look out for her. Fortunately, within a short time a new sponsor came forward who was willing to not only sponsor the usual cost to put Linda into school, but extra so that she may attend boarding school with her brother. When Joshua and Aggie went to pick up Linda for her first day of school, they found her mum passed out drunk. She had previously give her consent for both kids to go into boarding school but it was heartbreaking to find Linda alone and her mum barely realising this was they day she was going to school. (If any of you went to boarding school as little kids, I'm sure your first day had a bit more fanfare and maybe some tears). The women of Kids First had tried encouraging Linda's mum to join their craft and fellowship groups, but unfortunately her addiction won over. The sad thing is that without ready access to rehab and social work, women like Linda's mum will still be struggling with their addictions. The cool thing is that Linda is doing so well in school and has already made a good friend in Harriet, another of our sponsored kids (you can read more about her here and here). And with more kids having the opportunity of an education and a future, there is hope that one day there will not only be social workers and rehab centres, but families will live with a hope for their future that will protect them from the hopelessness that can lead to addiction and despair. Change may be slow but it sure is happening! If you would like to join us, please contact us here.

we would all love to help but it so happens that some of us are victims of unavailable resources. i am an example of Linda but the difference i managed to escape from my parents to school,if i met luck may be by now i would be done with school but i keep breaking off until i collect some money, apparently i can only give spiritual and moral support because it has been by the grace of Christ that i reached this small level of success. You can email me on corinthrebecca@gmail.com. Thank you, love you all.
