Small Business Loans and Vocational Training Programs
Our microfinance project started in 2015 with a selected group of women attending a 2 day education about running a small business, book keeping, encouraging growth etc. These 20 women went on to receive a small loan to help provide a much needed boost to their small start up businesses.
This program has been a huge success with all loans repaid well within their time frame, with the money then being able to be loaned to another woman. Success stories have included women being able to contribute to family needs, send their children to school and to school trips, as well as all women setting up a small kitty that can used to help a needy family each month! We have been overwhelmed by the massive change this project has brought to so many lives, so quickly, and we can't wait to see it continue to benefit women and families in our community.
Culinary- Five women were enrolled in a culinary institute to learn specialized cookery and baking skills. Six month course is aimed at changing their attitude towards food, how to prepare and cook it and how it can affect their lives.
Tailoring - training completed in 2018 and five women have been given microfinance loans to start up their own businesses. In Mid 2019 they will begin to train the next five women selected to learn this trade.
A catering business started up with the help of our micro finance project!
A small business loan helped boost this woman's craft making business so she had enough profit to start rearing chickens too!
